Lately, I have had some trouble thinking of things to blog about… Seems to be a problem for another blogger, too, but he was far more eloquent about it than I am. I have things that I want to write about, but those stories would require me to blog about my secret life. One that my immediate family and most of my friends know about, but a secret in my blogging life thus far.
Let me introduce you to the other me…
This is Marindra. She is a gnome mage who lives in my computer on a game called World of Warcraft. It’s an online game — an MMORPG, actually. (That means Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing Game, though Mike tells me mostly it’s just called an MMO now. Whatever.)
This is another picture of Marindra. That’s my pet pig, Mr. Wiggles. I have lots of other pets, but he is my most recent in the collection. =)
Mike and I spend significant portions of our weekends (and weeknights) online playing with friends. We used to play mostly with friends in Rochester, but as you progress in the game you need more and more friends to help you get through things. So we joined a big group of people (a guild). On most Saturdays between noon and 4ish, you can find Mike and I and 18 of our closest online friends hanging out in a place called Zul’Gurub killing monsters and stealing their loot. There are also weekday events, which I join when I am not at dog obedience class or ballet or other real life social things. As hobbies go, it’s pretty time consuming. But it is something that Mike and I enjoy doing together. When we started playing a year and a half ago, I didn’t think that we would play for too long. Turns out, no computer game or other hobby has cropped up to take WoW’s place and now I find myself wondering if we’ll be teaching our kids to play someday. (There are several families in our guild — one lady who is somewhere around my parents’ age plays with her son and daughter and soon-to-be son-in-law.)
Anyway, that’s about all I have to say for now. But now that it’s out there, I can start blogging about some of the things that I have been thinking about on my busrides. Maybe I’ll even start blogging more regularly.
Don’t hold your breath, though, I make no promises. There are phat loots that Marindra still needs. =)
