First the news — I am going to have to find a new job. I don’t talk about my job here, and I am going to continue that trend because I don’t need to get myself into any trouble. So I’ll just say that this isn’t a surprise, but I did think that I would have until the summer to figure things out. I do have quite a bit of time to find something new and I probably will be able to find something internally in a different area, but it is stressful nonetheless and I didn’t really need anymore change in my life right now. At the moment I am incredibly spoiled, and I would like it to stay that way. I get to work 4 days a week instead of 5, I can work my schedule out so that I am able to drop off and pick up Nathan at day care, and I love my coworkers. Why am I completely unable to stay working in one place for longer than three years? Anyway. I am considering a more detailed post about all things work-related, but then I would need to figure out how to be secretive about the essential details, and I’m just not sure it is worth it. Here are the essentials — I’m still going to work and still getting paid for a while. I’ll be working on my resume instead of starting new projects but I’ll still be finishing up things that I’m already working on. Next week I’m meeting with some people in other areas that might be hiring and the week after I will be meeting with HR to find out everything that I need to know about timelines and deadlines and such. In the meantime there is always a chance that everything might change and I won’t have to leave, but well, that would be beyond shocking IMHO.
Well, now that that’s out there, let’s move on to other things. First, distractingly funny baby pictures.
Clearly it is time to trim some of the hair. I took this on Saturday morning after we woke up from our early morning nap. Because it’s wispy baby hair, you really don’t get the full effect from this picture. It’s getting out of hand, but I’m really having a hard time convincing myself to cut any of it off. What if it doesn’t grow back?!? I know, it’s silly.
If there is anyone still reading, I thought I would share some thoughts on Twilight. I have read the first two books, and I LOVED them. Yes, they are teen books. And yes, I still LOVED them. I read two reviews of the movie before going to see it today, and I was a little worried. There was a pretty good chance that the movie would be cheesy and annoying. I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, there was some cheese, but come on, high school girl falls in love with vampire boy, of course it will have some silly moments. But overall, I was impressed with how well the book was translated into movie. One of the reviewers was annoyed by the camera work and all the silly closeups, but I thought all the silly closeups gave it the perfect feel. In the book it is as if the world doesn’t exist when the two main characters are together, and though the acting wasn’t award-winning, they did a convincing enough job. The scenery was gorgeous and made me want to move to the northwest (I think it was filmed in Oregon?). The cutest part of all, though, had to be the two middle-aged men in front of us that laughed all the way through the movie. I was grinning and a bit giddy, but then, I’m a girl who has always loved vampire movies and sappy love stories. It was fun to see such a range of people in the theater enjoying the movie. I, for one, can’t wait for the next one. And I really can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of the third book.
