Lights! Everywhere!

But not at our house. hee.

So, do you know what happens when you arrive home from 4 hours of driving, 4 hours of Thanksgiving with the In-Laws, followed by 4 more hours of driving?

That’s right. You decide not to leave the house for THE REST OF THE WEEKEND. again, I say… hee. I didn’t leave the house on Friday, Saturday OR Sunday! (ok, except for that brief period of time when I went out in the backyard and removed some of the offensive leavings of our dog and her visiting friend. Sunday was the warm day when the snow melted and “other things” melted and our backyard was gross and had to be taken care of before the neighbors decided they didn’t want to live near us anymore.)

And do you know what happens when you don’t leave the house for three days?

That’s right. The neighborhood sprouts Christmas lights and little light-up reindeer and cute little light-up polar bears and even a little light up manger scene. awwww… it’s Christmas in our neighborhood.

but not at my house. Bah Humbug!

(until this weekend when I hear we will get our very first Christmas tree that we will proudly display in the front window in hopes that the neighbors won’t hate us for not decorating outside…)

So, I’ve been watching a lot of TV during my time at my parents’ house, and I saw this really great thing. You should totally do it at your house. It was a house that had lights choreographed to what I think was the Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies. It had spotlights, a big crowd of wisemen (or maybe snowmen, who knows), chasing lights, and obviously a big sound system so that passersby can get the full audio visual experience.

Wow. That sounds frightening. I think the tree will be about all the decorating for Christmas that I can muster. =) maybe next year.

Today I got to see the Downtown Grinnell tree lighting, electric parade, and festival of trees. It took no longer than 15 minutes to see all of the above. I even got to join in with the tree lighting countdown that was being broadcast Live On The Radio! It was so exciting I could hardly contain myself. We haven’t managed to do any decorating at the Barger household yet, though.
