Adventures in the northeast

Vacation is going to be lasting a bit longer than we bargained for. There seem to be some storms in the midwest, so we aren’t even allowed to take off until they give us the signal. Sounds like our connecting flight has to go through the same crap, so we probably won’t even miss our connection. We’ll just get home super-duper late. Hooray for blogging from the airport! (and in a similar strain, Hooray for airports with free wireless internet!!!)

I had a fabulous week with Mom and Dad, and the fun only increased as the week went on. My brother and sister-in-law arrived a day early with their new baby, so I got to spend some quality time with my new niece. My husband and the rest of the family (two aunts and three cousins) arrived on Thursday, and I feel as though we have been talking non-stop since then.

The older I get, the more I wish that I could gather all of my family and friends in one place and keep them there forever. I hate being so far away from everyone, but I love my job and my town and my friends there. I always leave weekends like these wishing that I knew my extended family better and that we had spent more time together when we were growing up. I guess that’s just the way it goes. Probably I should spend less time worrying about the past and figuring out how to do better in the future keeping up with and visiting family more often. Especially now that I have a niece and I need to be her Favorite Aunt.
